Bob Lancaster, Principal

Frontier Support & Consulting provides strategic planning services to industry & government leaders in the field of space commercialization & operationalization.

Bob is a San Antonio-area Commercial Space entrepreneur and most recently served as Chief Aerospace Officer for Fathom Academy in Austin, Texas which he helped found in 2014 to provide commercial astronaut training. He has been involved with a number of Space Advocacy non-profit organizations since 1999, including the Space Frontier Foundation where he served on the Board of Directors. Working with the Artemis Project, an effort to crowd-source the development of a private lunar outpost, Bob did some of the first and only known work to date on practical off-world security and law enforcement issues by a professional in that field.

As an Air Force officer, Bob led a diverse staff looking at advanced concepts for USAF Security Forces while assigned to the Air Staff at the HQ Air Force Security Forces Center on Lackland Air Force Base. There, as Chief of the Force Protection Innovations Branch he worked with agencies ranging from the Air Force Research Lab, to Air University, to the National Security Space Office in the Pentagon to study a wide array of capabilities related to enhancing the effectiveness of deployed forces. Projects looking to operationalize emerging commercial space efforts included long-range wireless power transfer (both ground to ground and space to ground) and spaceborne transport for small Special Operations teams and equipment (USMC SUSTAIN concept.)

Bob is a 1986 graduate of the US Air Force Academy, holds a Master's Degree in Business and Organizational Security Management, a Master Peace Officer license, and is a member of the FBI Infragard partnership for Critical Infrastructure protection.
